Electric Education is committed to creating programs that fit our students. We have students who travel, compete at a high level in sports, live in remote areas, work, dedicate their lives to music, art or religion, or live alternative lifestyles. Distributed Learning at Electric Ed allows them freedom to study outside of the traditional 9-3 school system, accelerate learning to complete courses faster, have a high level of parent involvement in the learning, take a smaller course load, or receive credit towards courses for activities they are involved in outside of their school lives.
K-7 Students have their programs guided by a teacher and attend once a week to take part in a structured writing program as well as fun activities such as swimming, skating, gymnastics, bowling, and cultural events.
Grade 8-12 Students receive online or paper courses. They are asked to attend once a week to receive help and course guidance. Virtual classrooms, online tutoring, and online resources are also available to engage students in their learning. Science Labs are conducted on site to give students hands - on experience.
Electric Ed works closely with School District #59 High Schools and Central Middle School to provide students with the option of attending onsite courses such as Art, Theatre, Music, and Carpentry as a part of their Electric Ed program.
Grade 10 - 12 students with access to Dual Credit Programs through Northern Lights College and BCIT. Students generally complete grade 10 or 11 with Electric Ed, then attend a 5 or 10† month program with NLC or BCIT for which they receive college credits and high school credits jointly. They then complete a final semester at EE to complete grade 12. Upon graduation, a Dogwood and college certification in a trade are awarded.
Adult Graduation students are welcome at Electric Ed. Students over 19 who have not graduated are eligible to enroll in the Adult Graduation Program which requires them to complete 5 courses in order to receive an Adult Graduation Certificate. Many adults can receive credit towards courses from their work, volunteer, and life experiences.
Off Campus students who are already enroled in other schools can take courses from Electric Ed free of charge.
This allows students to:
•Pick up courses that did not fit into their timetable
•Retake a course they failed
•Complete a course they only got part way through
•Take courses in addition to their full course load
