Parent Advisory Committee
Parent Advisory Committee
The purpose of the School-Parent Advisory Committee is to provide a regular opportunity for principals and staffs and parents to consult with one another on issues of general interest which affect the education of the children. The Parent Advisory Committee meets periodically throughout the year to discuss various issues. All interested parents are welcome. Meeting dates and times are posted on the EE website, in the office, and in newsletters.

School Planning Council
Parents, teachers and principals on School Planning Councils (SPCs) develop school plans to improve student achievement. The Electric Ed school planning council meets several times a year to review data on student achievement and set appropriate goals for the following year. Throughout the year the goals are revisited and revised as needed.

At Electric Ed we form partnerships with parents to provide students with an educational program that suites their needs and peaks their interests.

At Electric Ed we work with parents to create a positive learning environment. It is important that parents understand that they will play an important role in guiding their child through their DL courses. Some of the responsibilities of Electric Ed parents are to:

1. Provide a quiet working area that has very few distractions.

2. Establish a routine. Although DL students have flexible schedules, they will need to study 25-30 hours a week on a full time secondary program and 20-25 hours a week on a full time primary or intermediate program. Sticking to a schedule will help students to keep up with their work.

3. Make School Work a Priority. Many DL students are busy with athletics, volunteer work, and jobs, but school must remain a priority. Make time every week for the appropriate amount of school work no matter what other activities the student is involved in.

4. Help your child to stay organized. Keep an agenda book that plans and records the work that needs to be done daily, weekly, and monthly.

5. Know what your child needs to accomplish. Check your child’s work daily and weekly to monitor for the quality of work and the amount that is completed. Know the due dates for assignments and the dates of upcoming tests.

6. Stay in contact with your child’s teachers. Phonecalls, emails, and visits in person are welcome.
